Classic shot in the Segovia Cathedral

Classic shot in the Segovia Cathedral

This really is a classic composition for a place like this :). I just could resist to also have a photo like this. I took this shot in the cloister of the Segovia Cathedral in Segovia. I wanted to try few different composition, but few seconds after I took this shot, I was asked to stop using my tripod, and the security guard started walking around, interfering with my shots. Probably he thought I will destroy the stone floor tiles with the rubber feet of my tripod 🙂 But either way, I’m happy with this shot.

HDR from three shots, taken with Canon 5D mark II with Canon 16-35mm F2.8 lens, from a tripod.

Standing on Ice

Standing on Ice

Another shot, taken while standing on a frozen lake. I really don’t like standing on ice, but I couldn’t resist, as it gave me the possibility to take a photo from a place, I usually cannot get to. Again I used HDR just a little here, to correct the overexposed areas of the restaurant and add more detail into the building and ice. Most of the photo is not HDR.

In this shot a restaurat on the Kuchajda lake in Bratislava.

Entrance

Explore Front page

I would never thought, that the photo I took from my balcony will get onto Flickr Explore front page :). But it did 🙂

Entrance

So today I have a photo of the entrance to the Primate’s palace in Bratislava. As I took it at night, the HDR was really yellow, so I decided to remove a lot from the yellow color, giving it a more daily look 🙂

HDR from three shots, taken with Canon 450D with Sigma 10-20mm lens, from a tripod.

Amazing details

Amazing details

What a scene for HDR. You have so much detail here, which was hidden in the normal photo, and such a huge difference between dark and light areas. I took this one at the Chateau Lednice in Czech republic.

Inside the Parish Church in Bad Deutsch-Altenburg

Inside the Parish Church in Bad Deutsch-Altenburg

You could say, that this was the only composition I could do in this church. The reasons was a gate, preventing me from entering the church 🙂 So I put the tripod as close to the gate as possible, so the lens is on the other side, an took few shots.

and for those interested, this is the church from the outside:

MarienkircheI visited Hainburg (small city between Bratislava and Vienna) few times, but I didn't know about this church until a friend shown it to me. Its a little outside the city, so you can miss it quite easily. I spend there few hours, so there will be many more photos of it :)HDR from three shots, taken with Canon 450D with Sigma 10-20mm lens. Parked

Parked

At first I didn’t like this photo. I took it only because of the car, and I thought the background doesn’t fit here at all. But after I edited it in photomatix, I started to like it. The contrast between the beautiful old car and the ugly concrete pillars worked out actually quite well.

I took here exposures from -4EV to +2EV, but it still wast enough to have a blue sky in the shot 🙂

Theseustempel

20 000 views

Few days ago this blog reached 20 000 views :). Thank you very much everyone 🙂

Theseustempel

White structures are not the best subjects for HDR’s. The process tends to make them really ugly and grey. So I blended this image with the original shot, so it stays at least a little white 🙂

There is also a lot of lens distortion in this shot. I don’t mind it at all. I think taking photos of structures this way gives them a more majestic feeling, they just look bigger 🙂 I really like this composition, so I will probably go there again, when there are nice clouds, and maybe a sunset 🙂

January sunset

January sunset

I’m somehow a little busy the last few days (weeks :)) so I’m always glad that I have a few processed images, so I can keep up with adding one photo a day. This one I processed already few months ago. It was taken during a sunset at the Watermill in Jelka.

Night in Prague

Night in Prague

Another night shot for today 🙂 I could spend hours and days taking night pictures of Prague, and I hope I will 🙂 What I really love about this scene, is that everything has a reflection here, every single part 🙂

and here are a few photos taken at the same place:

Wider view I have uploaded a portrait oriented photo of a part of this scene. But I also wanted to show you a more wider view of the scene, so here it is :). Photo taken late at night in center of Prague. HDR from three shots, taken with Canon 450D with Sigma 18-200mm lens, from a tripod.

Night in the city Ok, maybe not a classic night city shot :). But it was taken in the center of Prague, late at night :) When I took this photo, I had no idea, what it will look like. The park is not really brightly lit, so when I looked into the viewfinder, I saw almost nothing. So I just focused the camera on one of the lights, and took the shots :) Also nobody around me took any photos of this area. Everybody took only shots of the Karl's bridge (which is brightly lit and right next to this place :)). So I had another reason to take this photo :) HDR from three shots, taken with Canon 450D with Sigma 18-200mm lens, from a tripod.

Passage

Passage

This is exactly why I like HDR. Having all the detail on the inside, but still being able to see everything that is on the outside. It takes a little more time in the post-processing, as the very different light conditions create a lot of halos, but I think it’s worth the work 🙂
