Path through the Botanical Garden

Facebook page

I still cant decide, whats a better way to publish my photos on Facebook. I have booth, a fan page http://www.facebook.com/hdrshooter and a personal timeline page http://www.facebook.com/miroslav.petrasko

I think the timeline looks better, but again, the page already has over 500 fans. I wish they would change the pages, giving a little more customization options (and bigger photo previews). What do you all think?

Path through the Botanical Garden

A simple photo, compared to the one I posted yesterday. But nice :) . Something to remind us, that the summer is not so far away. Photo taken last summer in the Botanical Garden in Bratislava.

HDR from three shots, taken with Canon 450D with Sigma 10-20mm lens, handheld.

Screen in the Liverpool Cathedral

Explore Front page

This was quite a surprise for me. A second photo this week got onto the front page of Flickr explore selection. This makes it 5 photos in total that got there. Thank you everyone for visiting, commenting and faving my photos at Flickr :)

Screen in the Liverpool Cathedral

The screen is in the middle. There were preparations for some award show (or something like it) when I was there. So that’s why it was there. I went for a little darker and cooler look for this shot. I also did double tone-mapping here to get even bore details in this shot. For anyone who hasn’t heard of double tone-mapping yet, it means,  that when you process your photo in Photomatix, and you finish, you just hit tone-mapping again. On photos like this, where you have a lot of detail, this can create very nice results.

Entering the Old Castle in Banska Stiavnica

Best comment ever

I get quite a lot of different comments on my photos, but this one has to be the best :) Comment by foxybagga

Dear Earthling,Thanks for clicking a commendable image of the planet we are about to invade soon! After we have destroyed everything on planet Earth – we shall see these pictures and try to copy on our planet – [alien giggle] – The Foxyland!

I always tell myself to take the tripod everywhere with me. And still there are instances when I don’t do it, and I always regret it. So this photo was taken only handheld. The speed of the 7D really helped here, as it can take the shots so quick after each other. But the shots from the other side of the castle (in the shadow) are just bad.

Entrance

Explore Front page

I would never thought, that the photo I took from my balcony will get onto Flickr Explore front page :) . But it did :)

Entrance

So today I have a photo of the entrance to the Primate’s palace in Bratislava. As I took it at night, the HDR was really yellow, so I decided to remove a lot from the yellow color, giving it a more daily look :)

The Mystery of the Blue Train

The Mystery of the Blue Train

That’s the book I’m currently reading by Agatha Christie. And in the middle of editing this photo I noticed, that this is also a blue train. What a coincidence :) . I took this photo last summer in Bratislava at a train gathering Rendez. I went for a little different look here. This is also my first HDR in which I haven’t used Photomatix. I used Oloneo HDR software here.

Galvaniho Business Center

Galvaniho Business Center

Two weeks without taking any photos and I’m already feeling like a junkie without a drug :) . So I at least went to the Galvaniho Business Center to take few night shots. It’s only like 5 minute walk from my flat :)

Fortification

Fortification

A view of the fortification of the Bzovik monastery form the inside. As you can see, it’s not the safest place, with a sign warning of falling bricks at the entrance. Luckily, I had no such problems :)

Blue walkway in Coventry

Blue walkway in Coventry

What a nice day it was. I took this close to the end of October 2010. It was really warm and sunny :) . This walkway is right next to a big transport museum in Coventry, Uk. I really regret that I went there without a tripod. I have many photos, but very few good ones. But there definitely will be another visit one day :)

Completely calm water

Something to compare

I know that some of you like to see the difference, between the shots that came out of the camera, and the final HDR result. So here are the three original brackets that were used for the photo.

Completely calm water

I was quite surprised, when I found these canals in Birmingam, UK. I wasn’t expecting anything like these. But It was a very nice surprise, as they gave me some great reflections.

Organ inside St. Egidius Church

Organ inside St. Egidius Church

I continued playing with the Oloneo HDR software. It really helps to add to a photo a very nice realistic look. Again I created a Photomatix and Oloneo version and blended them in Photoshop. Especially the light areas came out much better in Oloneo. I probably will continue on using it :)

This photo is from the St. Egidius Church in Bardejov in eastern Slovakia.
